16/7
Second time dinner at Korean Restaurant, one of our favourite dining venue so far! :)
Viv and KJ had beef stew rice, Grace had Bibap and I had Tofu Stew Soup. It was sooooooooo good and delicious :)
pancakes
started with 6 side dishes and ended with 10 :/ hahaha. thankful for free flow :p

We decided to go Ewha for a shop after our dinner
Taken at Ewha's Women University Church :)
Ewha University is right opposite Yonsei and is definitely another beauty university in Seoul
Buddha jump shot
and shopping begins :)
Saw a plastic chicken that looks totally like the one at Bibap Performance hahahaha. and my 1000won pineapple stick :D fresh and juicy!

annnnnnd today, I was welcomed by a pleasant surprise in class!! I'm still taken aback by the results of my first test because I was all prepared to fail the paper. The Professor mentioned we all did awful.... and even suggested he would give a straight C- if we just attend all lesson and I was intending t do that :/ okay, I think summer prof are too lenient :) hehe

Gonna have my 2nd test tomorrow on Cold War and USS Pueblo~ Memorizing history is not easy!! May the force be with me.

till then! :)

Snippets of summer exchange

It's my 3rd Sunday here in Seoul. Starting to get used to the culture of this country and our 4-room apartment that feels like home :) It makes thing easier when 4 girls live together. We do our laundry every other 3 days, clean the house, do some homecooked lunch or dinner whenever we are free (or rather we need to save!) haha.

We also find some cheap deals like $1.20 for a big bunch of xiao bai cai, $1.50 for big basket for cherry tomatoes for us to chew on, $4 for a tray of 30 eggs, etc And since fruits are generally expensive here, I got alternative like Yoplait yoghurt... and biscuits as snack to chew in class

I attend lessons daily from Monday to Thursday from 1.20 to 5pm at the below hall :) The school is really huge and walking from one end to another takes probably 20-30 minutes? And it's up/down slope so it can get really tedious at times. Thankful we don't need laptop for class! I'm taking Introduction to globalization and North Korea, Inter Korea unification. The former is much easier to catch.. while I have alot to read on the latter :( haha. Summer class pace is a little faster, I've got four 25% quiz, 2 reflections paper, 1 presentation and 1 final paper to do.

Everywhere in Korea looks pretty similar. They have alot of street food, cafes and shops. Alot of Dunkin' donut around but I want to try Krispy Kreme!!! :) We picked up few conversational phrases to speak with the locals like, "how much", "too expensive" and stuffs. But most of the time when I see them, I forget those immediately and had to use sign language. hahah

We go everywhere by the subway - Jihachul. It's more convenient and seriously, we have never taken their bus before. It's pretty easy to travel as long as you know which stop you want to alight at and most importantly, listen properly!!!! Missing a station here is very troublesome.

We usually have the same kind of food - soup and rice or fried rice. Really love how Korean are so generous with their side dishes. I love most of it except pickles. My favourite are still veggies, radishes, kimchi, there's so much to name because every store serves different side dishes and I always look forward to having it. This is one thing I gonna miss when I leave :(

And yay all that aside, I have the most smooth sailing modules bidding for my next and last semester in SMU :) Managed to squeeze 4 classes in 2 days, Monday and Tuesday(!!! :D) hahah so I have really long weekends wheeee. But all good things comes with a price, my 3 papers falls on the LAST 3 days of the exam week zzzz but since it's my last semester, I shall not complain :)

Well, that's about it. It's 1.10pm here and all my housemates are still sleeping like pigsssssssssssssss!!!! The guys upstairs just sent us some Bak Kut Teh!!!!! YUMMMMMMMMMMMMYS :)

Week 2 in Seoul

Tuesday
We were usually drained and tired at 5pm after our lessons and heading home always feels like a good idea. Haven't really explore what's at Sinchon station and since we were hungry, we went for snack-hunting!
My recent addict at $1.10! Chocolate ice-cream at Sinchon, it's really good and yummy :D
and we found some really cheap deals below our place :D
all these for $3! but don't be deceived by the fresh looking pictures, some of the veggies had to be thrown away! but it's still cheappppppppp :)

We decided to cook pasta for the night (less than $4 for the spaghetti and sauce hahaha!) and incorporate our new green buys.
so homely
Pasta by Grace, Vic and me :)

Tamayo Eggs by Viv and Kejia! Inside filled with cheese and sausage. so gooooood!!!

Wednesday
dinner at a Chinese restaurant near Sinchon. I miss Sze Chuan!!!
usually not a fan of this but here's my... dirty looking Zha Jiang Mian. hahah I went o.O by the amount of sauce but it was just nice for the whole bowl of noodle. Sinfulllllllllll I know

Thursday
Had my first 25% quiz, it was sad to say chuiiiiiiii. okay but at least my knowledge about Korea's history slightly upz now ;/
dinner downstair! ;) this place serves really nice and cheap food. everytime we crave for something soupy and non-spicy, we'll think of this restaurant. On top of that, they often serves different side dishes!!

Since class ends on Thursday for us and it was only 9pm and we were bored, the 4 girls decided to head out to Namsuk Park at Hyehwa for some sight seeing!
up we go!

Friday
Slept in. Did half of my reflection paper due Tuesday. Homecooked dinner. Bibap performance. Hongdae at 11pm :)
sgfood is still the best I supposed. the eggs and veggies makes me miss home so muchhhhhh :(
Went for Bibap Performance and it was pretty good but I prefer Miso for sure :) I think Korea do have alot of such musicals. Truly enjoy it!
with the actors/actress! :D

Went Hongdae to meet the rest of our housemate for eat/drinks at 11pm! Korea do really have a vibrant night life comparing to Singapore.
always finish the radish and had to kope the guys untouched ones hahaha :/
ordered 2 plates of fried chicken wings and 2 plates of grilled ones. Had 7 of them because they were so tender and softttttttttttttttt!!! or I haven't had chicken like this for a long time?!?!?! Need to run already!!! :( Fat.

cheers!

Two more days to enjoy before school starts on Monday again :(
